Am I a Workaholic?
Workaholic, Alchoholic, Cartoonholic, Laughaholic, etc…what are the difference between all this? Basically it is the same, it brings the meaning that one is addicted to something and do “that” same thing over and over again on an extreme basis.
This was the thought that came to my mind this few days while I was driving back; “Am I working too hard?”, “Is this worth it?”, “Should I slow down?”, and “What’s my objective really?”, “Is my aim to find more money?” if not , “Then why are you working so hard everyday from day to night?”, “If more money, how much is enough?” “Is this the only to life?”
Let us weigh the Benefits and Disadvantages, Pros of having A LOT of $$Money$$
1) You can buy whatever you want
2) Go for holiday anywhere you want
3) Spend on whatever you feel like spending on without giving it a second thought
4) Can have a maid to help you do all your housework
5) Get a chef to cook for you
6) Stay in a nice big house
7) Drive a few cars, sports, MPV, 4 wheel drive, have a few parked at your garaj
But all this is Gone! Yes, GONE! Within a snap of a finger! When your health does not permit you to enjoy all of the above. All your life’s hard earn money, can be spent on the above but you will not be able to enjoy it because you can no longer walk, sickly, lonely (cos you’ve got no one who really loves you and cares for you, they are with you is only because of money), its like So what if you have all the above? It does not make you any happier. However, if you do not have money, and you’re sickly, I think the condition is even worst, you would not have the money to pay for all your medical bills and health facilities.
Cons of Not having a lot of money
1) You can’t buy anything you want
2) You need to think twice and plan very carefully before going for a holiday
3) Always have second thought on your purchase (off course you can swipe your card)
4) Cook and Do all your housework yourself
5) Stay in a reasonably medium size house like everybody else
6) Always paying installment for your car if you change car every 5 years.
For this, you have got nothing much to loose, you have worked reasonably hard (or very hard), made a reasonably good living and within a blink of an eye you’re 50 years of age. You should then enjoy life, but still need to think of your health and medical bills if any.
Above all, the most important is your life, you have the made the best out of it, but risk of not enjoying what you have worked for and what’s left behind is for your family or children. Come to think of it, is good to have savings, it is left for your loved ones anyway. By writing this, it has probably clear my thoughts and perspective.
Would a change of environment helps me put things back in perspective?
Life is Fragile, so take care!
