What if you are physically disable?

November 30, 2008 - 10:21 pm No Comments

Went for brunch at Taipan, USJ. As usual, lunch time, seats were full and it was a hot Sunday afternoon. Found a more cooling place away from the hot glaring sun. While I went ordering food, there came a blind man with his “aid” led by some stranger (prolly some coffeeshop waiter) right to our seat. Well was a little uncomfortable at first, but got myself comfortable. Then the waiter that order drinks came by so we ordered.

His food came (chicken rice; i think he always eats that) Easiest food to maneuver i guess. As the drinks waiter served, mom paid for his and our drinks. He said thanks. Then the waiter stood-by which we felt awkward, so we asked why? He said he was looking at the blindman eat. I am sure the blind man felt uncomfortable too. But anyway we strike up a conversation with him, he is from Malacca, working here a massager, body, foot, reflexology. Then mom asked him, can you see a little or probably a blur vision? He answered No, not even a little. He mention he lost his vision when he was little bout 4-5 years old.

Well, it was an encouragement to see people with physically disability doing their very best out of their life. Looking at the bright side do the best; out of their best capability. With that, I reflect on my life and think how blessed am I to be made by God perfect in His eyes. Still we complaint our hair is not smooth enough, fat, thin, eyes too small, mouth too big, nose not pointed enough, etc. Also we complain when things are not comfortable, money not enough to buy and enjoy the things we want. We always want a bigger pay cheque, bigger car, bigger house, latest handphone technology, latest designer clothes but we do sometimes need to stop chasing all that and give yourself a break! To see things from a different perspective, and start counting our blessings. I personally would like to Thank God for many things He has done in my life. Although my dad passed away few days before I was born, I have never felt lack of love.

So my last words will be, stop complaining, count your blessings! Have some Love ya’ al’! ;)

Two Siberian Huskies Shot

November 29, 2008 - 3:44 pm 1 Comment

Was browsing through facebook, me and Roxy alone at home, always wanted to bring her to meet some other Siberian Husky’s who live around Subang. Did some research, and remembered a friend who recently got a Husky too. Buzz her on facebook for a meet up and browse around for more Sibes around and decided to join some Siberian Husky group in fb.

Coincidently found something interesting which caught my attention most, which is about 2 Siberian Huskies were shot several times by this man who thought they were wolves came to attacked his herd of cows. They were shot on the back, leg and one of them right in the Eye! They merely survived, but I think with Sibes fighting spirit they hold-on and survived, even with 1 eye removed. More information available here http://www.dogster.com/dogs/797639 and video here http://www.wftv.com/news/17537877/detail.html . The owner was protesting and file a law suit against the shooter.

Well, just some sharing on this breed. They may look fierce and sometimes they are fierce (which dog has no temperament?, even human has, and it’s animal instinct) But generally, they are not guard dogs and they are not attackers, the work with/for human! They are known as working dogs, full of energy and strong spirit to run for miles, that is build in their genes. With generations having been in contact with human on a daily basis, this makes them very attached to humans too. Basically they want to be your friend, whenever there are strangers, they get so excited with new faces. Nevertheless, they are strong dogs, which can pound at you and pull you. I wish one day i could have a toy car in an enclosed area, and Roxy and pull me around. Better still sledge me to work…haha, that’s only possible if I’m in Alaska I guess ;)

Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil

November 28, 2008 - 11:15 am 2 Comments

I have been stucked in this place for more than 5 years now. Travelling to and fro, thrice a week to college for about a year plus and after that started working in the same company for more than 3 years plus now! Well, i sometimes think to myself, is it time to move on?

Before i go into that, let me tell you more about TPM (Technology Park Malaysia) It is actually quite a big place with 3 exits, which normally only the 1 main exit and 1 main entrance is open during night time. Parking is also a problem, since Malaysian are always pampered with near parking lots, however if you work late at night in TPM I would suggest you drive your car over to your company’s building. Else don’t work too late! Bring your work back home to do! Hehe…cos work can never finish!! I need to sometimes remind myself of that. Because when the sky is dark, things get really quiet with building spread apart, can feel quite scary at times…~~oooo~~~….and with all the trees and jungle around, and little lightings you can never really see if there’s anyone hiding in the woods.

That is why, this place, shall the name be changed to “Eco Park Malaysia, or Eco-Friendly Park Malaysia?, or maybe Botanical Park Malaysia?” It shouldn’t be called Technology Park, because things seems to be slow, no good parking systems, no cctv’s not like Sun Tech City, Singapore, i think you can’t run away if you did something against the law in Singapore.

Just today, I got quite frustrated with the system, because I think someone reported for a lost, the whole main-roundabout in TPM was filled with cars at almost 9pm! Then after being stuck for 15mins, I got to know that it was the guards that was checking every single car that was going out of TPM, asking to open the boot of each car! and it is not like they check in detail, just an action, they barely see what’s in the boot! and damn, they did not close my Vios boot properly! Security is not tight here, they should have at least cctv’s around to monitor each office building they have! And in 3 years the ladies toilet was stucked a few times, the ceiling was leaking when it’s raining! Wow, that’s Technology Park Malaysia! (sorry can’t help but be sarcastic) Finally after 30mins i’m outta there on a Friday nite! Manage to only reach home at 9.30pm, as on the way was all the way smooth ride.

This whole week, I’ve been encountering with quite alot of jams..probably because I was in KL for 2 days and its the rainy season.

Back to my earlier ponder, after 3.5 years, being my first job, should I be moving on? I find myself being stagnant for at least 6 months now…and recently got back my fire, fighting spirit, aggressiveness to move forward for the company. Probably because of the 2 days training I attended early this week. I felt stagnant after my new boss came in, when I no longer report direct to my CEO. He is around for a year now, together with my other staff. Off course, I have develop my staff together with my boss. So what do you think? Is 3.5 years enough to be stuck in the same industry? Shall I broaden my horizon and venture into something new, something more interesting, which uses more energy, moving around, while i’m still below 30, before i settle down to start my own family. I think I should give myself another 6 months to try to work things out within myself and seek for more opportunities! Taking more initiatives and making things happen, instead of watch things happen, as I read from one of the Malaysian Internet Business blogger rickysoo.com

Survival skills for New Managers – Training

November 27, 2008 - 1:16 am No Comments

stated in the brochure the venue was at Park Royal, then confirmed with the lady in-charged is at JW Marriot, when I am there, it is suppose to be at The Ritz Carlton Hotel. But luckily it is both under the YTL Group, and the hotels are both inter-connected :) It is my second time attending an event at The Ritz Carlton. To be honest, I quite like hotel finishing as well as how the staffs personalized themselves to their guest.

Speaker: Mr. Thomas Lai, who have 10 years experience as a professional trainer and another 10 years before that mainly involve in the Human Resource as well as providing training and talks. I see him as acting, I feel that he actions are not that “real”, well that’s just my judgement, he might be that “stiff” in his actions. Well, all i can say that he is a humble man, always striving to learn more and does not know how to relax and enjoy life and travel (well the last description was what he said)

Overall, the training is quite enjoyable, with activities, games given, brain teaser and a 20 minutes video, it make things interesting and not plain boring just talking with presentation slides. This is my second training that my company have sent me, this is definitely more practical then the previous. At least more information are absorb into my mind and I get to understand myself better and areas where I can improve on. The sad thing is that we did not finish 1 topic and there is this 1 topic who was quickly browse through, which I find it quite an important area for me, managing decision making skills.

Guess I just need to read it on my own, and read on the leadership skills article he have given. Overall, I will give a 7-8 for this training. Surprisingly, I think I am the youngest in the group, so alot to learn from people around you :)

Also, I met with the business owner of the training provider, what a co-incident he have proposed to my company early last week with a few other training topics he suggest to offer our office internal training :) Well, let’s wait, I hope to attend the Leadership program where I feel I should improve on.
